Dear Parents/Guardians,

Dont be lazy by taking a ride,

6th May: Sarah O Connell from the Road Safety

Walk, cycle or park and stride.

Authority spoke to all the classes on the importance


of keeping safe on our roads.

Fumes from our transport cause such pollution,


Walking or cycling is a better solution!

10th May: 6th Class went to the Day Chapel for a talk on the many ways
that they can make a contribution to the
church now that they have been confirmed.

20th May: The Parents Association held their annual sponsored walk
along the canal bank. It was a most enjoyable day in spite of the
weather and the children were treated to crisps and a
drink on their return. We were delighted with the turnout
of families on the day. Thank you to all the children that

11th May: Fourth Class paid a visit to Clara Bog where they learned

collected sponsorship money on their cards. All of these

very enjoyable guided walk along the boardwalk.
May 12th: Sixth Class attended a transfer day in St. Marys Youth
Centre where they received plenty of information about making the
transition to secondary school.
May 19th: As part of our Green Schools Travel Flag initiative, we took
part in National Walk to School Week. A Wacky Walk to School Day
took place where the girls wore odd shoes/socks to school. Well done

cards were entered into a raffle with a prize for each


class. There was over 2000 raised which is a fantastic result. Thank
you to the Parents Association and Ms. Gaffey for organising the
event.
23rd and 24th May: Ms. Brophy and Ms. McDonnells classes took part in
a Bizworld workshop run by Bank of Ireland where they learned how to
form a company and market their own ideas. We were delighted to
welcome Joe Fennell the bank manager from Bank of Ireland to our
school as a dragon. The girls had to pitch their ideas to him and look

for capital for their businesses. The girls presented their ideas very

23rd May: The second stage of the An Post Rs passed by our school.
We were very excited as 185 cyclists raced by. We
cheered them on and waved our flags.

School Uniforms
We are looking for school uniforms in good condition. If your daughter
has outgrown her uniform and you would like to donate it to the school,
you may do so after the holidays.

24th May: All classes took part in fitness tests in O Brien Park
organised by Offaly Sports Partnership.

Important Dates
There will be no school on Friday 3rd, Monday 6th and Tuesday 7th June.

27th May: The girls from Third and Fourth Class went on their school
tour to Kilkenny. They went on a guided tour of
Kilkenny Castle, travelled on a road train around
the city and visited Dunmore Caves. They had a
wonderful time.

School re-opens on Wednesday 8th June.


School re-opens after the summer holidays on Tuesday, August 30 th.
School will be closed on September 20th, 21st and 22nd as the National
Ploughing Championships are taking place in Screggan. This closure is
taken on advice from the Garda, as there will be a significant increase
in traffic around the school which would impact on the safety of

camogie team who

children, parents and staff.
