Chapter 1 A week in paradise..

(One fine morning)

Beep! Beep! Beep! Beep! Click.

Today was the first day back from summer break. Katie was awakened by the most
annoying sound in the morning: an alarm clock. She thought she had slept well last night but
apparently, it was too well. She wanted to stay and sleep, but she got up, slipped off her pjs, and
wandered over to her drawers, slipped on a flowy shirt and some dark, blue jeans. When she had
finished upstairs, she headed down the stairs that stretch straight from her door.
When she had gotten downstairs there sat a bowl, cereal, and milk waiting for her on the
table. Her mom probably had left early for work. She went to the table quickly made the cereal,
gobbled it down and rushed to the door, She couldnt be late for her first year of being in grade
10. As she grabbed her bag almost forgot to take her allergies pill (Katie would be a mess all day
without it ).
Katie was on her way out the door when she hit something with a Thump not far behind
it.
Oh MY GOSH! Im so sorry babe. Babe Is Katies boyfriend. Oh, but his names not
babe, its Landon. He is a cute, sweet, guy. He and Katie met when he bumped in to Katie when
she was practicing her goalie skills at lunch with her friends in 8th grade. He was just walking by
and she went to dive for the ball but instead of the ball she caught him in her arms.
Anyways theyve been dating for 2 years now. Its their anniversary today and lying next
to Landon was once a beautiful bouquet of flowers and was now a pile of petals. You should
watch where youre going g-star, his nick name for her ever since they started dating, it stands
for goalie star.

 Well I didnt know you were standing there. If you hadnt noticed, the door was in my
way.
On the walk to school, Landon and Katie noticed a man throwing a big black duffle bag
in to the giant garbage behind a 7-eleven. The smell was so putrid that they had to run past,
otherwise Katie would have puked. She did a little in her mouth; it would have been
embarrassing to do that in front of Landon!
When they got to the school, they saw Elizabeth, getting out of her dads red mustang.
She was a blond tall, but only because of her tall stiletto heels and the shortest shorts youve ever
seen! She was the school drama queen and she knew it too, last week she got Alice to break up
with Jack. Alice saw Elizabeth kiss him at the end of the year dance in grade 9. They had been
dating since grade 6!
If there was drama, Elizabeth would be there. It was always her that started any drama,
but no one knew. They all loved their star cheerleader. She was preppy and always nice to the
other cheerleaders, and dont get Katie started on how she was with the teachers. She always got
As for every class, except gym. Mr. Tough, his real name, always saw through her lies of oh my
friends and me have to or daddy said I can. He always knew.

Ring! Ring!
It was time for math for first period. Surprising enough Mr. Larsen hadnt shown up. He
was the strictest about being late, thats when Mrs. Warshaw walked in, the principle at Trent
high. hello class, Mr. Larsen isnt here today cause he has been missing since Friday, last seen
at the school. If anyone knows of his whereabouts please tell me at my office, but for now you
will get Mrs. Farker.

The rest of math was boring. Mrs.Farker was jittery and didnt get things done right.
Katie thinks it was because of something in her child hood, but she could never talk to her since
whenever Katie went up to Mrs. Farker she would look with wide eyes scream and run away.
After that lazy day class Katie walked over to her locker. The halls were empty and quiet,
and when she was 10 feet from her locker, she had noticed someone with a hoodie, just standing
there with their back to her. She slowly stepped over to the person and tapped them on the
shoulder. But when Katie tapped their shoulder again, they had disappeared.
As Katie stood there, terrified, she felt a light wind brush her face and out of the corner of
her eye, she saw someone next to her. She stood there terrified as it spoke in a crackly deep
voice. It whispered, What you been up to.. Vampire?

Chapter 2 A talk

and a Fight

As Landon and Katie walked home from a long day at school, they took a break on the
bridge that connected the two side of the little creek they had to cross over to get home. Landon
noticed Katie was a little too quiet, for her preppy happy spirited self. Are you ok Katie?
All was silent. She was staring at the ground, and with a sigh she answered. I have to tell
you a secret, but you will probably leave me. With a look of confusion stuck on his face, she
explained how when she was born her mother died and her father had taken her away from
people and now someone she knew as a child was in town.
Calmly he hugged her and asked why that was such a problem. Someone from
childhood would be fun to have around.
She told him that her mother was a human and her father was a non-human.
Jokingly he said, Well then what was he? A vampire?
Katie went silent. She was going to let it soak in and it did.
Landons face went white and he slowly answered, Youre joking, right? Then as color
returned to his face, he ran and gave her a hug I love you no matter what you are, I mean
youre the same person that you were since grade 8.
With those feelings revealed, Katie and Landon walked to Katies house.

As Katie approached the door she noticed it was cracked open, something wasnt right.
She knew her mom was at work for another hour so who was in her house? Then she recalled
that time when she had the run in with that person. Something was very wrong! Katie ran in the
house. She stopped to see a person , in a black jacket and dark blue jeans standing in front of her
Hello, Katie, how have you been?
In shock she felt like she might faint but she held her ground, when a hand touched her
shoulder.
It was Landon, he looked about as shocked as she was, but Katie didnt know why it
looked like he had known the person too.
What do you want hunter? Landon stifled out as the man stepped closer to them.
Katie was shocked. How did he know Hunter? What wasnt Landon telling her?
So I see you have met the prophecy, Hunter said in a crackly voice that sounded like
nails on a black board.
Katie was confused, what were they talking about? Was she the prophecy? What was
going on?
Hunter was walking closer and closer and with a quick second he would be right near
Landon. Katie ran with the speed of a cheetah and ripped through Hunters chest and grabbed
his heart.
Now if you want to bother us, youll lose this, piece you kind of need to live, so leave us
alone!
And with a flash of light, Kaylee grabbed Landon and ran to his house.
