Too Young to Die

By Sean

Prologue

The sounds of gunfire echoed through the streets of the city. Large buildings and
structures crumbled into artifacts of temples. A bullet crashed through a large glass window
shattering glass, the sound loud and vibrant. Screaming of terrified people rang through my ears
as a we sprinted frantically past a man to find shelter of some sort. Holding back tears, my
husband clenches onto our young baby. My face bright red and my eyes huge and more aware as
ever as I grasp a small heavy shotgun in my right hand.
Our baby shrieks and cries tears of despair as we rushed swiftly through an abandoned
building of some sort. We have to be aware at all times to survive; no sleep, no rest and no snack
breaks, if we even so much as stopped for a minute we would be killed by snipers, killed by a
bomb, or even worse, kidnapped.
My legs ached in agony as it was my turn to hold the flailing baby. I stopped and glanced
around frightened, everything was quiet, something wasnt right. Then I heard a faint sound in
the distance. I swear under my breath. I know what it was.
What is- my husband whispered worriedly.

But before he could finish, I interrupt him with a scream. ATOM BOMB! I shriek at
the top of my lungs. Going as fast as I can, I grasp my husbands hand and lead him through the
apocalyptic city.
Tons of people screaming and running as they knew what is was. Panic rushed through
me. We and everyone around us would be dead in any second. Sweat and tears dripped off my
body. I could hear the thumping of my heart searing through me. Everything was like it was in
slow-motion. The sound of the bomb was getting louder and closer and louder and closer. I felt
pressure on my chest, my head rippling of ache. Sound started slowly fading away. I look up for
the last time hugging the baby tightly. Closing my eyes, tears trickled down my face and I said
my very last words She. was. Too. Young. To. Die.
