Portfolio Task 1 Deadline 13th April 2016

Effective assessment requires a clearly defined purpose. As a teacher, you must


ask yourself several important questions. In each section, be specific and include
exactly what you are going to say and do. Your task is to design an assessment
task for speaking using the framework provided.
What am I aiming
Im aiming to assess if students are able to understand,

react to and name 8 animal body parts: body, tail,
mouth, ears, eyes, tongue, legs, trunk.

They need to know the words: an animal and an


elephant
They need to know the construction Its got.....
They need to know the question: Where is.. ? Where
are...? and some commands: point to, repeat, name.
They need to have some communicative skills and
listening comprehension skills.

They need to understand and react to all of the animals


body parts (8) and name most of them (5).

All of the students need to understand and react to all of


the body parts.
Most of them can name (point and say) 6 of them.
Some of them can name all 8 body parts.
Some of them can respond to the pictures with support.

Memory

Students is able to understand animals body parts:


body, tail, mouth, ears, eyes, tongue, legs, trunk.
Student is able to point to most (6-8) of them.
Student can name at least 5 of them.

In this task I will assess accuracy.

Student can recognize and name 7-8 body parts.


Student can recognize and name 6 body parts.
Student can recognize 6-8 body parts and name 3-5.

Student can recognize 6-8 body parts but can name only
1-2 or any.
Student can recognize 3-5 body parts, but cant name
any.
Student can recognize 1-2 body parts but cant name

Firstly, I will show a picture of an elephant and ask her/him to name and point to
as many body parts as he/she can.
Ex.: What body parts has an elephant got?
Student: Its got....................
If he/she cant remember some of the body parts I will ask her/him.
Ex.: Where is a trunk? Where are the eyes?, etc.
They should point to the picture.
Then I will give them the scores (sun, cloud, etc.) and some oral feedback.
