The Lord of the Flies

Diary Entries
Piggy

NARRATIVE
Dear Journal,
It's my first day on this unknown place which seems to be an island. I do not
remember much about how I came here, only that there was a big explosion on the
airplane and we flew straight down, in to the ground. Walking about I stumbled upon
another boy about my age, his name is Ralph. He don't say much and answers my
questions in a very weird way most of the time, he keeps everything to himself. In the
beach I found a conch shell and it shining and clean on the shore so nicely, reminded
me of how to blow a conch, Ralph was tried to do it but he wasn't blowing right! I told
him to use air from his stomach and soon he made a very loud noise which was the
start of his calling to other boys on the island, a lot of them started coming to the
shore, Oh how convenient! Soon enough the island filled with boys that came in
groups of two or three from different sides and of different age and before i knew it
my job was to gather their names, they wouldn't stay still and it was frustrating. The
first assembly was just held, Ralph was chosen leader by voting and when Jack asked
who wanted him for leader nobody answered. He's not cool and think he the best but
everyone except his group of boys listen to him, and out of will too. Ralph is a good
leader, he knows what's right and he will make this work just fine, he has this leader
instinct which will help us out but Jack rattles me up

NARRATIVE
Dear Journal,
Nobody listens to me, not even Ralph who I thought would be my friend, I am
so frustrated and hate this island. We was the first ones on this island, after all we
should be able to talk and be friends and be able to teach the other boys the meaning
and importance of friendship and obeying a common rule. My ass-mar is getting
worse, I have to run and follow Ralph around and my auntie be here she would be
mad. I am the one that has to keep order and remember others of the rules of the
conch, its a lot of work. Jack and his group of hunters be getting more savage every
day and all they want is meat, meat, meat. They scare me and dont seam really nice
ro inteligent. I wish more people would be like Ralph, I know he a good guy on the
inside and the way he act is probably because I follow him and annoy him, or maybe
he wants to show his authority. I must be annoying but at least he know that me the
wisest of all the savages. Looking around, there is nobody here on the beach beside
me; the days are hot and sticky . Ralph is probably out looking for them fruit and
Samneric taking care of the fire. So they leave me here as if i am useless . They will
see, one day they will see the mistake they making I very intelligent and useful. They
pick on me cause of my ass-mar and fatness, also because of my glasses after I told
Ralph not to tell others of my nickname "Piggy" and he still did it. You can't trust
anybody on this island, you never know what they might do, turn their back on you. I
must get back to helping keep the small fire going with Samneric.

NARRATIVE
Dear Journal,
All my life, people have made fun of me and it never bothered me. But this
dirty trick of Jack was too much, HE CROSSED THE LINE. He knew I couldnt see
without my glasses, yet he took my glasses. So, I requested Ralph to blow the conch
and hold and assembly. He blew the conch but was of no use. So we decided to go to
the other end and ask my glasses back. Sam suggested we ought to take the spears,
because we might need them.(210) I refused since I thought wed go there and sort
things out without violence. However, things went different. Jack and Ralph got into a
fight. Ralph couldnt make himself clear why we had come there. I raised the conch
and tried to make the boys understand the need of the time was not hunting but unity
to find a way to be rescued. But, all went in vain. All this time Roger had been
throwing stones at us. Ralph heard the great rock long before he saw it. (222) Ralph
escaped it, but I couldnt. It crushed me to death and the conch into thousand pieces.
And without a sound the waves took me with it.

NARRATIVE
Dear Journal,
When Ralph and others got back from the forest, Ralph told me
that they saw the beast up there. Ralph said that it was huge, that it had black eyes
and that it was scary, I was scared. Jack was just boosting about his hunters and
trying to get everyone by his side saying that Ralph is a coward. I dont believe him.
Jack even said that whoever wants Ralph not to be chief to raise their hands, I was
really happy when I saw nobody went on his side. I dont think he deserve to be a
chief. I wanted to give a party when he left. I dont think we need him. I dont even
want to see his face again. I saw some bigguns and littluns go after Jack. But I didnt
care. I and samneric brought some fruit for Ralph to make him cheerful. He was
worried about the fire. I suggested him to bring the fire down here instead of up
there on the mountain. After sometime Jack and his hunters were there to take fire
from us. I got scared when I saw them. The paint in there faces was actually scary and
no joke, I feel unvalued and i can help so much more in getting us rescued, This is so
Frustrating!!!!!

NARRATIVE
Dear Journal,
While sleeping in the huts alongside Ralph and the twins after a long day of
work, we were startled from our sleep by Jack's newly formed tribe. They was kicking
one of the twins in the face and none of us expected the attack...my thought was
that they came for something..like always. Once we all gathered around inside what
was left of the hut, I told them that i thought the savages came for the conch and
Ralph checked quickly the place of assembly for any signs. The conch was sitting
there, glistening. They had come for something else...MY GLASSES! The bloody fire is
what they wanted but instead of asking they stole it. HOW MAD I AM! We are already
planning a trip up to Castle Rock, the tribe's fort and meeting place. If they think we
are just going to pretend nothing happened and not get revenge, they are wrong.
Dead wrong. They have been insensitive before, but this time they crossed the line.
Now, not only did they take my specs but have destroyed the huts Ralph made with all
his effort, poor Ralph. Well, it is getting dark and way too tired to write besides we
getting ready to confront Jack and his tribe. Hopefully nobody gets hurt and we settle
things once in for all.
