Chinese Club is a student organization

composed of every grade level here at
Sycamore High School. Our club is made up
of students who are enrolled in the Chinese
language program as well as students
outside of the program who are interested
in Chinese culture. Throughout the course
of the school year, club members are
introduced to many facets of Chinese
culture from traditional tea ceremonies
and calligraphy to Chinese board games
and sports. Our members attend meetings
to enrich their knowledge of Chinese
culture and language and to have fun with
friends.
The Sycamore Computer Programming
Team provides an opportunity for students
to learn more about computer
programming and to participate in
programming competitions. Students of all
skills levels, from no experience to expert,
are invited to attend. Meetings are
scheduled monthly, with the first round of
the ACSL competition starting in December.
For more information contact Mr. Hoffert in
Room 155
or hoffertm@sycamoreschools.org

Creative Writing Club is devoted to

providing a space for students to creatively

the context of business, connecting to business
and the community and promoting competition.
The student members leverage their DECA
experience to become academically prepared,

Horizons Technology Club

This is a group of dedicated fashion students and

passionate individuals. The group is only 12
students and typically 2 from each grade with
upperclassmen filling out the remainder. They
spend all year planning a professional fashion
show including clothing from local retailers and
fashion design students personal designs. Last
year the group raised $25,000, after expenses
donated $20,000 to the Dragonfly Foundation a
local non profit supporting children with cancer.
We will again be partnering with the Dragonfly
Foundation with a goal of raising over last years
donation. These funds mainly go to a program
called Beads of Hope: the children at Cincinnati
Children's Hospital get a bead for every treatment
they get and upon their last treatment they receive
a large purple heart.
The fencing club teaches, trains and prepares
students for local competition in the sport of
fencing. Students may choose training in either
foil or saber.
French Club is for all students interested in
learning more about French culture. Each month,
students participate in a French cultural activity,
such as petanque, Mardi Gras, French films, etc.
Our mission is to complement the French course
curriculum, however anyone is permitted to join
French Club.
The mission of FBLA is to bring business and
education together in a positive working
relationship through innovative leadership and
career development programs. Students will be
meeting together, welcoming guest speakers, and
traveling to various businesses to gain experience
and exposure to the business world.
Students work in a garden environment to
promote a sense of community and pride. The
produce currently grown by the club at the
Montgomery Maintenance greenhouse is donated
to the Blue Ash Cancer support center. The club
is actively trying to build a garden on school
property.
Strives to bring awareness to gender inequalities.
The goal is to educate people on gender roles
and how to achieve equality. What does this
mean and why should we care about it? We will
invite guest speakers and hold discussions.

Interfaith club is a place for students to

discuss religion and it's different aspects in
a open and non judgmental environment.
We have a diverse group of students at
Sycamore High School and our club gives
us a great opportunity to showcase that.
We include and encourage participation by
all religious and non religious students
The Interact Club is a student-run volunteer
group that is sponsored by the Blue
Ash/Montgomery Rotary Club. All students
are encouraged to attend Interact meetings
and to join our club. There are no dues to
join. We work to connect students of all
ages with various local volunteer
opportunities. We also host meetings in
which our members learn more about
volunteer opportunities, listen to speakers,
and promote volunteerism within our school
and community.
Japanese club is a fun, interactive, and
diverse club that explores various aspects
of Japanese culture such as music, film, as
traditional arts. No previous knowledge of
Japanese language or culture is necessary
and all are welcome!
The Junior Class is an extension of Student
Council that is made up of nine Class of 2016
representatives. These students have been
elected by their peers. We meet during Student
Council designated "class days" and after school
to organize and sponsor social, school-related
and community-service activities. Our largest
event will be this year's Prom at the Loveland
Oasis. Any profits from these events go toward
2016 expenses such as our class gift, teacher
gifts, class t-shirts, staff luncheon, and graduation.
Sycamore Latin Club is open to all current and
former Sycamore Latin students. Club meetings
are held every Friday after school in HS Room

Sycamore High School's math club offers

19 math contests throughout the year. An
organizational meeting and officer election
is held near the end of September, and
contests take place after school, on
Saturday mornings, and occasionally even
during school hours from October through
March

The Sycamore Mock Trial Program provides

students the opportunity to learn firsthand
about the law, court procedures and the
judicial system while also building critical
thinking and public speaking skills.
Sycamore participates in multiple
competitions from January to March
including the state wide competition hosted
by the Ohio Center for Law-Related
Education. Schools in Ohio are assigned the
same case. Every team will present
their case once as the plaintiff\prosecution
and once as the defense. Typically,
Sycamore will have 2-3 teams, each team
consisting of 7-11 students. Beginning in
September, each team, coached by a
volunteer licensed attorney, will practice 23 times per week. All Sycamore students
are eligible for tryouts held in September.

Shakespeare Club is meant for students who

have a passion for Shakespeare's writing,
especially his plays. It is open to all students who
love literature, reading, and speaking like the
characters of the plays. You don't need to be an
expert in Shakespearean speak, but you should
be interested in learning and laughing, and falling
in love with the witty William S. Meetings are
usually once a week. It is a small group currently,
but the more the merrier (to fill in all of the parts of
the plays)!
This club's focus is to ski and board out at
perfect north during the ski season. Our
goal this year is to build membership and
push to improve the structure of the club to
be more social and not limit ourselves to
the winter meetings.

Spanish Club is open to all students and

there are no dues to join. The Spanish Club
works to promote an understanding and
appreciation of Spanish and Hispanic
culture. All are welcome to join us at our
meetings! Our meetings are a fun way to
listen to speakers on local and national
topics regarding Hispanic culture, watch
culturally relevant movies, learn more
about cultural holidays and events and to
spend time with friends!

Stepping Out Club's purpose is to gain a deeper

knowledge of the unique reality kids experience
and develop an overall sense of the school culture
for students with and without disabilities. The
Stepping Out Club strives to open minds and
improve ones own perception of what can be
achieved while having fun. We meet once a
month, and anyone can join! We take new
members all year long!

Madrigal, Sycamore High A Cappella Group

(SHAG) and Sycamore Womens Ensemble of
Excellent Trebles: Madrigal, SHAG and SWEET are
comprised of 9th through 12th grade students.
Admission to these pop a cappella ensembles is
the result of a demonstration of specific skills at
audition. Primary goals of this advanced
ensemble consist of developing an a cappella
singing style through exposure to music from all
periods, strengthening vocal independence from
instrumental accompaniment, providing
opportunities for students to work in leadership
capacities where possible, nurturing concert
poise and stage etiquette, and heightening
students awareness and ability to establish and
recreate excellent intonation and blend. SHAG
and SWEET are one of several ensembles who
often represent Sycamore High School in the
community performing throughout the school
year in addition to the Choral Program concerts.
SHAG and SWEET rehearse as extra-curricular
groups after school on Mondays from 4p 6p.
