Windchill Interference Management Service

Automatically detect, manage and report interferences within product designs

The Windchill Interference Management Service

helps companies increase product design quality
by automatically detecting product interference
issues earlier in the product development process.
Component interaction within an assembly can be difficult
to analyze until a physical prototype is built. Windchill Interference Management Service reduces the amount of time
and cost associated with a physical prototype by allowing
engineers to understand any component clashing issues early
in the design process.

Increase product quality

Windchill Interference Management Service allows engineers
to investigate the design for interference issues automatically, either on demand or periodically through a scheduled
job. Many potential problems can now be quickly uncovered,
analyzed and resolved during the development process.
With the ability to discover issues that otherwise would have
been unnoticed until late in the product lifecycle, Windchill
Interference Management Service can help your organization
improve overall product quality.

Key Benefits
Reduce time-to-market
Companies typically create very few physical prototypes because they are time-consuming as well as prohibitively expensive. As a result, engineers must wait until late in the design
process before being able to recognize all possible interference issues. Windchill Interference Management Service reduces overall product development time by allowing engineers
to instantly visualize and dynamically analyze any clashes
within their product at any point in the process, so potential
issues can be quickly identified and resolved.
Reduce product development costs
Developing physical prototypes is a costly process. Windchill
Interference Management Service significantly reduces the
need for physical models by providing tools to analyze clashes
for all variations of a product design. By reducing the number of physical prototypes, you can minimize product development costs while enabling your distributed design team to
virtually analyze an unlimited number of design configurations.

Features
Automated job queuing and execution Interference jobs
submitted to the system are automatically queued and passed
to an available interference worker when one becomes
available.
Scalable architecture The Windchill Interference Management Service provides a flexible environment to address interference checking throughput needs. As desired throughput
grows, more interference workers can be added to the system.

Integration with Creo View products Users of Creo View

benefit from a rich interaction between the desktop application and the interference content managed in Windchill.
Assign interference resolution tasks Users can assign interference-related Windchill tasks to ensure that any interference
issues are quickly resolved. The task will appear within the
users list of Assigned Interferences."

Acceptable Penetration

Flexible interference parameters The user can define many

interference input parameters, including:
Interference types; clearance, contact or interference
checks, including tolerances

Interference: parts physically interfere by penetration and volume

Filtering which configurations within a product are

to be checked
Enable interference checking of model sub-partitions
against each other. For example, checking for interferences between the electrical and HVAC components
The time and frequency concerning when the interference
job should be executed
Support for configuration specifications and expansion
criteria The interference job definition enables the use of
configuration specifications and predefined expansion criteria
in order to check a configurable product for interferences and
clearance violations.
Define dynamic component and assembly groups Automatically populate and create component and assembly groupings on the basis of metadata or the product structure hierarchy. This capability allows interference jobs to accommodate
model changes (ex. components being added or removed).
The grouping definition also allows interference checking to
support configurable product structures, including options
and variants.
Support for heterogeneous CAD models By using the Creo
View adapters, the Windchill Interference Management Service
can analyze models that were developed in a variety of MCAD
packages for possible interferences.
Readily available reports Users can easily and graphically
navigate interference reports directly from the Windchill user
interface, enabling rapid understanding of the interference
check results.
