Present Perfect Continuous Tense

Menyatakan suatu kejadian, peristiwa dan

sebagainya, yang SUDAH terjadi dan MASIH

berlangsung bahkan sangat mungkin AKAN
berlanjut
Misalnya:
She has beenlearningenglish for 3
years
I have beenteachingenglish since last
year
They have beentouringsince yesterday

Rumus
Positif

: Subject + have/has + been + Ving

Negatif
: S + have/has + not + been + Ving
Interrogative
: Have/has + S + been + Ving

Contoh-contoh:
1. (+) We have been discussing the problem
for several hours.
2. (-) She has not been learning english for 3
years.
3. (?) Has She been learning english for 3
years?.

Past Continuous Tense

Past continuous tense juga dikenal dengan
istilah past progressive tense. Tense ini
digunakan untuk menggambarkan suatu
pekerjaan atau aktivitas yang sedang terjadi
pada masa lalu.

Fungsi Past Continuous Tense

Menunjukkan pekerjaan yang sedang terjadi pada masa

lampau.
Contoh:
I am sorry Jane, yesterday I could not help you because I
was washing my car.
She was crying in my shoulder so I could not go any where.
Menunjukkan dua buah aktifitas yang sedang terjadi

bersama-sama di masa lampau.

The fire was burning my house when my mother was
cooking last night.
John was operating his computer when I was watching a

movie.

Contoh Kalimat Past Continuous.

I was there when you was delivering

your speech on the stage

Julie was cooking in the kitchen while I
was watching a television yesterday
morning.
The rain was pouring heavy when I
arrived at home this morning.
She was reading a book while the library
was closed.
