This document discusses a new invention of artificial DNA that contains six gene-building nucleotides including the standard A, T, C, G as well as K and X. This artificial DNA is able to make copies of itself, similarly to natural DNA. This new technology has applications in enhancing detection of genetic material from viruses, bacteria, and biological agents. It can also help detect defects in natural DNA related to diseases. However, challenges remain in keeping artificial DNA alive outside the laboratory, high costs, and ensuring its safe use.
