Crime Stoppers Tip Leads to Arrest of Six for Armed Robbery
After a lengthy investigation Detective Brian Brown arrested five Slidell teens and one teenager from
Lacombe and charged them each with Armed Robbery.
The investigation first began on April 27th when the Shell Station located at 750 Brownswitch was
robbed by two armed men. On May 6th, the Shell Station was robbed again by two armed men. In both cases,
two males entered the store and demanded money from the clerk and took tobacco products.
The investigation got its first break when Fox 8 TV aired a story about the two armed robberies and
shortly afterwards an unknown caller called CrimeStoppers and gave two names. Deric Miller and Bobby
Beasley were named as the suspects that committed the robberies. This information was given to Detective
Brown who was also advised that Bobby Beasley and Sean Kent had been arrested by the St. Tammany
Parish S.O. for Vehicle Burglary.
Detective Brown then began interviewing the three named suspects, each gave very similar stories as
to whom and how they robbed the store twice. The three (Miller, Beasley and Kent) advised that on the night
of April 27th, they were walking around Slidell and decided to rob the Shell Station on Brownswitch Road.
They then called a friend, L Rooney III, to come to a location on Robert Road and drive them to the Shell
Station. Once in the truck, they all discussed where to park the truck while Miller and Beasley committed the
robbery. Miller advised that he was armed with a bb gun that resembled a real gun and Miller advised that he
was armed with a knife. After committing the robbery, the four left the area in Rooney’s truck. Rooney was
paid for driving them while Miller and Beasley split the rest of the money.
On May 6th, Beasley asked Kent if he wanted to rob the store a second time and Kent advised that he
did not want to. Beasley then asked two other males, who were at the residence Wylie Van Scoter and Joshua
Cazalot if they wanted to rob the Shell Station. Both agreed to help commit the second robbery. The three
then drove to the area of the Shell Station in Cazalot’s small silver car. During this robbery Beasley was
again armed with a knife and Cazalot was armed with a long gun, while Van Scoter waited in the vehicle.
None of the money or tobacco products have been recovered. Only part of the knife (blade only) used in the
second robbery has been recovered. The money was used to purchase narcotics.
