Nobody had thought not even the inventors Mark, Eduardo, Dustin and Chris that their small

experiment of creating this website would become such a huge hit in the short span of only six years.
Facebook as its name suggest is an online book of collection of different faces, I mean different
people…in short this is a most popular social networking site in the world. I know it’s really idiotic to
write this tiny introduction for this website because those readers who will read this definitely have
an account (or more than one) on Facebook and know about it much much more than me.

So I am not going to elaborate more about its invention, neither I am going to present
statistical data related to its popularity. I just wanted to share my views about this social networking
site. This site provides us such a good platform to share our feelings that sometimes we forget to
check whether the things we are sharing are sharable or not. Sometimes we can see the
uncontrollable outburst of emotions in ones status updates. The thing that fascinates me the most is
the relationship status option present on this site. It offers us to select an option among these
options. 1.single 2.In a relationship 3.Engaged 4.Married 5.It’s complicated 6.In a open
relationship 7.Widowed. Now the 5th option is the option which generates curiosity in my mind.
What does it stands for???? Whereas 6th option is the option nobody wish to choose if he/she is an
Indian and has relatives among his friends on facebook. The most popular option among these is the
2nd option. In a relationship, it means you are a committed person. Two type of facebook users
choose this option.. first one are those who are really In a relationship (straight, homo, bi….. blah
blah blah…) and the others are those who want to show off to their friends. These type of people
get committed only after their arrange marriage…to their wives. Finally 1 st option is the option which
verifies that you are a normal human being. And I am a normal human being 

One best feature Mark added to the facebook is its compatibility with huge number of
applications created by users. Facebook gives user a facility to use a large numbers of small
applications. Though these applications are small and tiny but their use can play a vital role in
creating or destroying ones relations with their friends and girlfriends through facebook. “dekhan
me chotan lage, ghao kare gambhir.” Applications like lover of the day give user and their friends
enough opportunity to discuss their feelings for each other implicitly. If you are already in a
relationship (committed) then these application may prove hazardous for you and your ongoing
relationships…sorry relationship . So, be careful from next time before using these applications.

The second most popular thing after doing status updates in the ‘to do’ list of a regular
facebook user is to upload tons and tons of pictures showing him/her in different poses. Now a day’s
everybody wants to live a life of celebrity. So people upload several types of pictures sometimes
funny, sometimes vulgar and sometimes shocking. The main motto behind uploading these pics is to
get large number of comments. These large numbers of comments (not the matter of comments)
make them feel like celebrity. Believe me, sometimes these pics look so vulgar and inappropriate
that if displayed in public can make posers in the pics to commit suicide. But to gain cheap popularity
on the net these posers..specially the female users of facebook don’t even think for a single time
before uploading these pics.

The way people have started to unwrap their privacy on net is really a big thing to worry. We
are not celebrity and so we can easily get prone to cyber crime. Beware and take care..

This is the facebook effect.. 
