PPTP Configuration

1. Open Network and Sharing Centre select “Set up a connection or network”.

2. Create a new connection by selecting “Connect to a workplace” and selecting next.


3. Select “Use my Internet connection (VPN)”.

4. Entry the following IP as the “Internet Address” 165.228.216.12. Also select “Don’t connect
now; just set it up so I can connect later”.

5. Input the following details for Meg’s dial-up VPN and select “Create”.

Username: megripepi
Password: Qatsih313 (This password is capital sensitive)

6. Select “Close” on the final screen. Select “Manage network connections”.

7. Right click on the dial-up VPN connection and select properties. Select the “Security” tab and
check the “Advanced” option is selected. Selected the “Settings...” button.
8. Change the “Data Encryption” to “No Encryption allowed”. Check that only two CHAP
options are selected like in the picture below and press OK.

9. Select the “Networking” tab and change “Type of VPN” to “PPTP VPN”. Highlight “Internet
Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)” and select “Properties”.
10. Select “Advanced...”

11. Uncheck the “Use default gateway on the remote network” option and select “OK” on this
window and the next two windows so the connection window closes.
*You can now put a shortcut of this connection on the desktop and test.
