 Information Literacy is a fundamental basic of

education today and must be intergrated with
all ciriculum to give an intergrated program.
 Everyone has problems of information access

overload.
 There has been more new information in the

last 30 years than in the last 5,000 years.

 A study in Colorado high school of 500
websites being used deemed that only 27%
were reliable.
 At the University of Washington a study of

graduates over a ten year period determined

that skills valued were:-
 Problem solving Information use
 Speaking Independent work
 Technology Group work
 Writing Reading
 Three stages of information problem
solving:-

 Beginning Plan

 Middle Do

 End Review
 1. Task definition
 2. Information Seeking Strategies
 3. Location and Access
 4. Use of Information
 5. Synthesis
 6. Evaluation

 Information seeking can be non linear.
