  Car sales in India are expected to grow 12%-13%
this financial year through March

 Car sales are forecast to touch 1.71 million units

this year.
• Local car sales last fiscal year surged 25% to 1.53
million units, the highest gain in six years.
• Car sales in India jumped 33%
• The country’s largest car maker, Maruti Suzuki India Ltd.
Established in 1983 , for the first time in more than 27 years
registered a slip in its marketshare to 50% in sales for the first
six months of this year.

• Maruti’s share in the passenger car market today stands at

52.2%

In 1986, Maruti produced 100000 cars

Now, Maruti is producing approximately 10 lac cars per year.
• It had a turnover of around Rs 600 crore during 2009-
2010. “They were hit by recession during last year
and hence had a flat growth.

Sales
• Mr Nakagawa said Toyota Kirloskar is expected to
end the current calendar year with sales of 70,000
units, which is expected to double to about 1.4 lakh
vehicles next calendar year.
• Toyota reported a 54.18 per
cent jump in sales at 6,050
units. It sold 3,924 units in
the corresponding month
last year.
• "Market of sale-purchase of pre-owned cars was at least 20
times big than the market of new cars and they want to tab the
market to double their current Acquired Turn Over of Rs 250
crore in the current financial year"
