Albany – The Richard Brodsky for Attorney General campaign announced today the
endorsement of the New York State Public Employees Federation (PEF) (AFL-CIO).
PEF represents 58,000 professional, scientific and technical employees. It is the second
largest state-employee union in New York with locals located throughout the state.

PEF President Kenneth Brynien stated, “Brodsky has always been responsive to his
constituents. He has had an open door to hear the concerns of PEF members and has
been a strong advocate for the needs of middle class families. He has proven himself an
open and honest candidate and effective leader in the state assembly. We believe those
qualities will help make him a strong Attorney General.”

In accepting the endorsements, Brodsky said, “I’m grateful for the strong support for the
58,000 New Yorkers who serve the public every day and are members of PEF. And to
Ken Brynien and PEF’s leadership which represent strong, principled advocacy for
working people. PEF was a crucial factor in gaining political support for the reform of
the states 700 Soviet-style bureaucracies, also known as New York’s state authorities.
That commitment to reform continues in our campaign and PEF’s work. With PEF’s
endorsement, our campaign now has the support of over 300,000 thousand New Yorkers
and their families who believe that my work as Attorney General will change and
improve the circumstances of the daily lives of working families. The political
consequence and power of such broad support cannot be overemphasized. My thanks to
president Brynien, his leadership team and every single member of PEF for their
confidence and their hard work.”

The Brodsky campaign continues to build significant political support throughout the
state as PEF joins DC37, CWA, other union locals, various law enforcement and
community organizations as well as numerous elected officials in endorsing Brodsky for
Attorney General. The announcement of PEF’s endorsement marks the beginning of a
four-day, nine county swing through central and western New York.
