>Measles is an infection of the respiratory system caused by a virus,

specifically a paramyxovirus
>Source of infection: Nose & throat of infected persons.
>Symptoms include fever, cough, runny nose, red eyes and a generalized,
maculopapular, erythematous rash.

>Koplik’s Spot (1-2 days after onset of common cold) = They are
characterized as clustered, white lesions on the buccal mucosa. Then on
the 3rd or 4th day, maculopapular rash appears(blotchy rashes) in the body.

>measles is usually self-limiting, it can cause complications in people


with weak immune systems. These may lead to diarrhea, pneumonia
and encephalitis, and corneal ulceration leading to corneal scarring.

>Death is due to complication. Measles severe among malnourished


children with fatality 95-100%
