1. Downloading

First, download the application from our homepage (www.absolute-apps.com\downloads). You will see
there two possibilities:
1. You can chose the installation by a setup. If you chose this, click the "Setup installation" link,
download the zip-archive and go on with page 10.
2. The second possibility is for people who are not allowed or who don't want to run a setup. In
this case, please click the link "Manual installation", download the zip-archive and go on below.

allation, unpack the downloaded archive in any userdefined folder, e.g. C:\Program
Files\CATIA-Export.

Before starting the installation, please make sure that the Microsoft.NET framework in the version 2.0
is installed on your computer because you will need it to use the export-application. This is a free
software which you can download under the following link:

Then you have to register your CATIA in the following way: The release version of CATIA to which On-
hand Export should be added has to be registered in your Windows registry. If this is not the case, you
have to execute the command CNEXT.EXE /regserver in the desired CATIA installation folder
(e.g. C\Program Files\Dassault Systems\B16\intel_a\code\bin) in a DOS shell. Note: For doing this,
you must have administrator rights.

Start your CATIA session. Choose "Tools > Macro > Macros" (1). Then there will open the dialog
window for managing Macros and their libraries, select the button "Macro libraries" (2).

Select "Add existing library" (3). Select the folder where you unpacked the downloaded archive in the
next dialog (4).
The selected path will be shown in the box (5). Close the dialog window.

Choose "Select" (6) in the Macros dialog to load the macro file from the folder selected before. Set
the filetype filter to *.catvbs (7), select the Start.catvbs macro file and press the "Open" button (8). The
macro file is now shown in the box of the Macros dialog (9).

Choose "Edit" (10) to modify the script. Adjust the standard path C:\Programme\CTMWAddin to the
path where you uncompressed the downloaded archive, e.g. C:\Program Files\CATIA-Export. Leave
the rest of the script unchanged and save the changes (11). Close the macro dialog window.

Choose "Tools > Customize" (12). Select the register card "Toolbars" in the next dialog window and
choose the button "New" (13). There will appear a new empty toolbar (14). You are able to change the
name of the new toolbar by giving a name in the dialog window and select "OK" (15).

Select the register card "Commands". Choose "Macros" in the left box and the Start.catvbs script in
the right box. Select "Show Properties" (16) and the dialog will be extended by the properties.
For adding any icon, select the "..." button in the Icon section of the dialog (17). In the Icon browser
(18), you can choose any icon for your new toolbar by selecting it and clicking "Close". After that, select
the Start.catvbs script in the Customize dialog and drag it on your new toolbar. Now you can go on with
page 14.

If you want to have the correct icon for the application, you have to do one more step. Close your CATIA
session and start your CATIA Environment Editor.
Select the environment you want to modify and select its CATGraphicPath variable (19). Right-click the
CATGraphicPath and select "Edit variable" (20). In the appearing dialog box, go to the end of the values,
append a semicolon and the complete path to the icon file, e.g. C:\Program Files\CATIA-Export\Icons
(21). Save on closing the Environment Editor.

After that, start your CATIA session again. Go to "Tools > Customize", choose "Macros" and the Start.catvbs
script in the register card "Commands" and select "Show Properties", like described on page 07.
For adding the correct icon, select the "folder" button in the Icon section of the dialog (22).
Select the Icons folder in your folder where you uncompressed the downloaded archive, e.g. C:\Program
Files\CATIA-Export and select the *.bmp icon file (23) and choose "Open". After that, select the
Start.catvbs script in the Customize dialog and drag it on your new toolbar. Now you can go on with
page 14.

3. Setup

setup, unpack the downloaded archive e. g. on your desktop and start the
resulting Setup by doubleclick.
First, you have to chose the language (in which the installation wizard should lead you through the steps
of the installation) in a combobox and select "OK" (24). Select "Next" in the Welcome dialog (25). The
next dialog window shows you the license agreement. Please read, select the radio button "I accept
the agreement" and select "Next" (26).

The next dialog window shows the information that the Microsoft .NET 2.0 Framework is needed (27).
If you don't have this, please download it from the given link and install it. After that, you can go on
with the setup. Select "Next".
In the next dialog window, you have to specify the path to the CATIA installation to which you want to
link On-hand Export (28). That means that the export button will be added to the CATIA installation
given in this dialog. Specify the folder by clicking "Browse" and selecting a folder. After that, select
"Next".

The next dialog window lets you specify the start menu folder (29). Choose one and select "Next".

In the next dialog window, you are able to decide if you want to have a desktop icon (30). Make your
choice and select "Next".

The next dialog window shows again all information you have given before (31). If you want to change
something, you are able to go back and specify your changings. If you agree with your settings, select
"Install".
The next dialog window shows you that the installation has been successfully (32). Simply click "Finish"
and you are ready with the installation.

4. Exporting

Start the CATIA to which On-hand Export was linked by double clicking the desktop icon or by selecting
On-hand Export from your start menu (33). Open the file which you want to export and select the On-
hand Export toolbar in CATIA (34).
Then there will appear a dialog window which gives you the advice that the accuracy of the 3D model
could be influenced by changing the "Fixed" value for 3D accuracy on the register card Performance
under Tools > Options > General > Display. If you select "OK", the software will use the current value
under Tools > Options, if you select "Cancel", you are able to modify this value and start the software
once again (35).
In the next dialog select the folder in which you want to save your exported file (36). You are also able
to create a new folder by clicking the "New folder" button. Select "OK" to start the export process.
After the export was successfully, there will appear a message (37). In the selected folder, there will
result a file with the extension *.ctpak which you can load to your device.
