One will wonder the special fascination of Indian Remote sensing Satellites with Perth
City. While Indian Space Organization launched the IRS P6 Resourcesat, IRS P5 Cartosat 1 and
Cartosat 2 satellites, the first best quality images received, are of Perth City of Australia.
The use of LISS III P6 Resourcesat 22.8 m resolution, LISS IV P6 Resourcesat of 5.8 m
resolution, P5 Cartosat 1 Stereo 2.5 m and Cartosat 2 of 1m resolution, covering part of Swan
river segment and part of Airport of Perth are detailed in this paper.
P6 LISS III Resourcesat data is down loaded by Geo Science Australia now to meet the
need of Australian users. The P6 Resourcesat LISS 4 and P5 Cartosat 1 and Cartosat 2 are
available from Antrix directly through SDA Australia.
This paper aims at evaluation of these data for the best use of Australian Users and
particularly for Urban planning, Natural Resources and Disaster management, Bush Fire
mitigation, Mining Industry, Ecological management etc.
The demonstration of the data of Perth city for various application in this paper will be
useful for the Australian community to build Green Environmentally protected Australian
st
Continent to meet the environmental and ecological challenges of 21 Century by creating spatial
data base at faster and economical rates.
