Commonwealth Games Delhi 2010

INVITATION
Birmingham City Council and Advantage West Midlands invite you to meet
senior members of the Organising Committee for the Commonwealth Games
Delhi 2010.

Tuesday 3rd November 2009, 4 pm to 6 pm

Committee Rooms 3 and 4, Birmingham Council House,

This Road-Show will:-

 welcome the Queen’s Baton for the Commonwealth Games Delhi to


Birmingham

 launch the Commonwealth Business Club India (CBCI) in Birmingham

 alert the West Midlands business community to the opportunities from


the Delhi Commonwealth Games next year

XIX Commonwealth Games Delhi in October 2010 will be the largest multi-
sport event ever staged in India, where athletes from 71 countries,
representing over a third of the world population (1.7 billion people), will be
contesting 17 sports in 11 world-class sporting venues. There will be over
10,000 athletes and officials participating in the 12 days of sporting
competition.

These Games symbolize India’s “coming of age” as a global economic


power, showcasing Indian capability and celebrating India’s rich and
distinctive culture.
Commonwealth Business Club India (CBCI) is an initiative to promote India as
an investment and business destination. Federation of Indian Chamber of
Commerce and Industry (FICCI) and Confederation of Indian Industry (CII)
conceived it, in partnership with XIX Commonwealth Games Delhi 2010
Organising Committee. The Club will act as a platform to bring together
domestic and international businesses during the run-up to the Games.

The Queen’s Baton for the Commonwealth Games Delhi will start its journey
from London on the 29th October, go round the UK, followed by the 71
Commonwealth countries, before it heads to Delhi.
