Experimental apparatuses will be used to evaluate performance tests of the dryer as follows: a
digital Scales, a drying oven, a grain MC meter, a Rotameter, a Power meter (gauge), a Tachometer,
an U-shaped Manometer, a dial-thermometer, 02 thermo-hygrometer, an infrared Thermometer, a
sampler, a weighing balance, some plastic bags.
a) A digital Balance: (accuracy: 0.01) to determine weight of samples before and after place the
samples into the drying oven.
b) A drying oven: to accurately determine the initial or final grain moisture content.
c) A grain MC meter: (Rice moisture Tester, Kett Riceter m series) to measure grain moisture
content at the dryer during drying.
d) A Rotameter (range: 8 ÷ 13 m/min.): to measure the superficial velocity.
e) A Power meter (above): to measure Voltage, current intensity, power, and power coefficient
• Notes:
- Items (a) and (b): need those equipment to calibrate the accuracy of the MC meter. If the
accuracy of the MC meter is reliable, we don’t need to borrow those.
- Items (i) and (j): if we could borrow 02 pieces either (i) or (j), that is also OK. I mean, if
we borrowed 02 hygrometers, we don’t need any thermo- Hygrometer, and else.
- Item (k): not so necessary.
