Japanese designer born in 1938 in Hiroshima,
Japan

After studying graphic design at Tama Art


University, Miyake moved to Paris in 1964

He established Miyake Design Studio

He also worked with Givenchy


& Geoffrey Beene in New York before
returning to Tokyo

He produced a line of pleated clothing called Pleats Please which became very popular

Strength : Geometric shaped garment, drapery on the bias

Design sensibility : Traditional, innovative, handcrafted & new technology
