How To Configure & Use MINICOM in Console PC?

1. Open a Terminal Window in Console PC

Enter the command “minicom –s coma”.

After configuration, you can always open console port using “minicom coma” command.

2. Select “Serial Port Setup” as shown below to configure the COM port

3. Press “A” and modify “/dev/modem” as “/dev/ttyS0” as shown below in the two
screen shots:

4. Select “E” to set the baudrate and other settings. The required setting is 9600 baud
rate, 8 bits, No Parity, 1 Stop Bit. This is shown as 9600,8,N,1 in the screen. Set this
required settings by selecting option “E” in the following screen.

5. Exit from the above screen & verify that the settings are as shown below:

6. Save the setup as “coma” as shown below and exit as shown below. Now anytime you
can invoke minicom using the command “minicom coma” to access the COM port.
