• Generally, patients’ medical records are
scattered among several locations
without links between them.
• Modern method of healthcare and
healthcare benefits has increased the
paperwork necessary to keep all the
records. The medications prescribed, the
insurance carrier, type of coverage
provided and so on.
• Fortunately Information Technology has
also evolved to keep the computerized
records, provide information at the finger
tips for both, the attending physician and
the patient.
• Easy identification and transfer of data is
critical to the success of any technology
upgrade.
• In the search for fast, secure, and accurate
patient clinical information storage, smart
cards offer advanced options to care
providers and patients.
• Smart card technology allows health care
providers and health care organizations to
streamline medical processes, participate in
secure health care data exchange, as well as
increase quality of service through improved
data access.

a Smart Health care card
• The hospital \ lab will connect the
smart card reader to the personal
computer

authenticates the card and permits
further processing

carry out the required functions

majority of the population due to the
unavailability of manpower. By using Smart
Card technology, we can automate the health
care system, thus reducing the need of
manpower.
