Decision Making Workshop Overview:

As it is known for all that Iraq has transformed from a dictatorship Authority in to a
democratic system where most of the decisions are made jointly, So there is a big difference
and challenge as well in all of our Governmental Dept. in the decision making process where
most of the Departments heads are still making many decisions that have so negative
consequences on their people life and this is due to their understanding of the decision making
process, such a behavior is affecting people's life directly and indirectly in addition to the
frustration that is so clear in peoples impression about the new democratic system in Iraq
because many people are thinking that nothing has been changed except the names of people
who are making the decisions where the process is mostly the same.

The negative Impact of the decision making lack:

The negative impact is represented by peoples' trust in the decision makers and in the
new democratic system, in addition to that when there is no clear process for making
decisions, it is either a fertile soil for corruption or it gives that meaning to others at least.
Here most of the people gradually will be changed in to anti-democratic because of the
democratic system tools lack.

Expected Impact:

The expected impact of delivering such kind of trainings is to have leaders more
experienced in taking their decisions and in explaining people how decisions were made and
why in order to have trust rebuilt between people and government first and them among
people themselves when they start trusting their leaders ability to address problems and
critical decision.

Targeted Community:

The targeted Community is 30 senior governmental positions who are mostly the
governmental departments head in order to have them aware of the best tools for decision
making and in order to have them addressing the problems that they are facing in their daily
life work. The targeted community is only a small part of the people who are in need for such
skills, so it will be the first round that will target this sector of community in order to have
other community sectors targeted after that, and these sectors are provincial council members,
City Council members who are in need to have more appropriate decision making tools
beside voting in order to enable them for producing better decisions and explaining people
how decisions were made in order to re build trust in the governmental bodies inside
Diwaniyha City.
