Test Study Guide – Exploring and Colonizing America

We will have a test on Wednesday, October 27th. This test will cover the Age of Exploration through our
discussion of creating the 13 Colonies. To prepare, use these materials:

 Explorers Chart  Textbook Chapter 4 (pages 102-120) and

 Explorers Mind Map corresponding questions
 Notes from pages 74-78  New England Colonies WS
 Jamestown-Roanoke Chart  Middle & Southern Colonies Notes
 Age of Exploration Quiz  13 Colonies Fact Sheet
 Paragraphs written in class  13 Colonies Timeline
 Textbook Chapter 3 (pages 68-97) and
corresponding questions

This test will assess how well you've learned about the explorers who came to America (after Columbus)
and the English who settled it. This time period (between roughly 1500 and 1700) is what made
America. Knowing how this happened is crucial to understanding our nation's cultural, Constitutional,
and spiritual history. On this test, you will see multiple choice, matching, paragraph writing, map
identification, and chart completion. This test is based entirely on the discussions from class, our daily
goals, and the assignments in and out of class. There will be 35 questions and 1 paragraph response.

Here are some sample questions to practice. However, this is not ALL of the questions you will see on
the test.

1. Led the English colonists during the difficult days of Roanoke/Croatoan Island.
2. Led the English colonists during the difficult days of early Jamestown.
3. What is the name of the document which made peace between the Pilgrims and non-Pilgrims
