Findings
From researching into male and female preferred genre
of film, the dominant genre for both genders was
comedy. For males the second favourite was Action, as
opposed to RomCom for females. Therefore to attract
both genders in our short film, a RomCom would
acquire both tastes. Being that the comedy side of the
RomCom film was more heavily based as oppose to the
romance element.

Type Of Humour
Findings
Borderline of social norms was the most
proffered type of humour. This humour
involves risky innuendo’s and pushing the
boundaries of what may be considered as
sarcasm and mocking. An example of this
would be the British TV Comedy,
‘Inbetweeners’, in which explicit language,
mocking behaviours and embarrassment shapes
the script of the programme.
Sound Prefences For A Short Film

Mostly Dialogue Mostly Music Both
Findings
The sound preferences for a short film were both
music and dialogue, with mostly dialogue as the
second choice. This mixture of non-diegetic and
diegetic sound is common in most films, to add
atmosphere and to propel the story line. Therefore
from our findings we will include both diegetic
dialogue and non diegetic music within the short
film we create.
Findings
From our research we have found that the RomCom
genre would acquire both the tastes of male and females,
providing the comedy side was more heavily based. We
will work around the prefered humour of ‘borderline of
social norms.’ We understand that this is a risky choice
with a possibility of causing offence. However after
looking at the popularity of TV programmes such as the
Inbetweeners, we feel that if done properly we could
create a successful short film following the genre of
Comedy, with the romance element.
