First Aid for the Choking Victim

Call 9-1-1

Do NOT slap person on the back

1. From behind, wrap your arms around the victim's


waist
2. Make a fist w/ one hand and place the thumb side of
your fist against the victim's abdomen, below the
ribcage and above the navel
3. Grasp your fist with the other hand and press into the
abdomen with a quick upward thrust
4. Repeat thrusts, as often as needed, until the object is
expelled

6)Pinch nose, seal mouth
7)Blow 2 long breaths
8)Look, listen, feel while
counting(1001,1002,1003,1004)
9)Blow 1 breath

10) Repeat steps 8&9 – until the victim


starts breathing or help arrives
