The filmfare awards are considered as one of India's well respected film awards. The
awards took shape in the year 1954 and were constituted by the famous filmfare
magazine. The main objective was to recognize and honor artists for their outstanding
contribution to the industry. The readers of the magazine select the winners for the
prestigious awards. The 46th filmfare popular awards were held on 17th February at NSE

Bollywood saw the inception of glitzy Filmfare Awards in the year 1954. The awards
were introduced to encourage the artists for their performance in films (released
previous year). The winners are selected on the basis of popular votes polled by the
readers of the filmfare magazine. The 47th Filmfare Popular Awards were held on 16th
February at Bandra-Kurla Complex in Mumbai. The film ‘Lagaan’ was presented with
eight awards for the year. The film is about the oppression of peasants by the British
Raj (set in the Victorian period). The movie is also considered as a truly complete film.

The Indian film industry saw the dawn of Filmfare Awards in the year 1954. The
awards were incepted by the famous Filmfare magazine. The readers of the magazine
choose the winners for various categories. The awards were introduced to
acknowledge talent in the film industry. Filmfare Awards 2003 were sponsored by
manikchand, hence the awards were also known as the 48th manikchand filmfare
awards. The film ‘Devdas’ bagged the highest number of (nine) awards for the year
2003. The film was based on the Sharat Chandra Chattopadhyay novella ‘Devdas’.
This is the first color version of the story in bollywood. It was considered one of the

The glitzy Filmfare Awards were incepted in the year 1954. Since then the awards are

the winners for the awards. The 50th Golden Filmfare awards were held on 26th
February at the Bandra-Kurla Complex in Mumbai. Sonali Bendre, Saif Ali Khan and
Farida Jalal were the hosts of the special evening. The grand night was inaugurated
with a song sung by Abhijeet Sawant and Amit Sana (‘Indian Idol’ finalists). Bollywood
