Unit 1

Grammar Notes

We use the present tense when we talk about what we are doing now.

We use the past tense when we talk about what did yesterday or before yesterday. The
past tense shows us something that has already happened.

It is the verb that shows us if the sentence is in the past or in the present. Here are some
examples:

I am happy with my book I was happy with my book

We are very proud of our school We were very proud of our school
