The holidays are here and I sincerely hope that you will enjoy your December holidays.
Certainly many of you will be treating the holiday as an opportunity to watch copious amounts of
television and play computer games. However, in view of your English results, it is CRUCIAL that all
of you do not indulge in those activities and surround yourselves with English books and media
regularly during the holidays.
Do give reading a try! It is lots of fun if you give it a chance. Go to the library and choose books on
subjects you are interested in. I am assigning you the following:

1. Read the October Readers’ Digest article and complete this worksheet.
2. Complete two book reviews on two books that are appropriate for your age group.
3. Complete a movie review that is at least 200 words long in your JOURNALS on a movie of
you choice. Summarize what the movie is about and give your opinions about the film (why
you enjoyed it, why you did not enjoy it).

Let’s work together to improve our English. I believe that your class can improve by leaps and bounds
next year only if you choose to make the effort now. See you next year. Once again, happy holidays!
