Everywhere we turn, we are bombarded with negativism and

divisiveness…..in newspapers, television, radio.  There is a lot of heat

and very little light.  In a world increasingly polarized by religious and
political ideology, Rotary is an organization where people of goodwill
work together in common cause for the common good.  Regardless of
cultural, religious or political differences, Rotarians are united in the
spirit of “Service above self.”  We would rather take action than
merely stand idly by.
 
As a product of my generation, John Denver was one of my favorite
songwriters.  He reminds us in his song, Heart to Heart,
                                “And then you know there’s an answer to the
suffering you see
                                And though it isn’t easy, it’s as simple as you and
me.”
 
Rotary provides an opportunity for ordinary people, like you and me,
to do extraordinary things.  We are the answer.  You, me, and Rotary.
