• Oasis were an English rock
band that formed in
Manchester in 1991.
• Originally known as The
Rain, the group was formed
by Liam Gallagher ,Paul
"Bonehead" Arthurs, Paul
"Guigsy" McGuigan and
Tony McCarroll ,who were
soon joined by Liam's older
brother Noel Gallagher.
• They have had eight UK number-one singles and
eight UK number-one albums, and won fifteen
NME Awards, nine Q Awards, four MTV Europe
Music Awards and six BRIT Awards, including one
in 2007 for outstanding contribution to music and
one for the best album of the last 30 years as
voted by the BBC Radio 2 listeners; they have
been nominated for three Grammy Awards.

records worldwide

• Noel's full name is Thomas David Gallagher.
• Liam's full name: William John Paul Gallagher
• Oasis are from Manchester, England. Except for Alan White, who
is from London.
• Their first drummer was Tony McCarroll. But they replaced him
with Alan White after he had a fight with Liam right before
they performed "Some Might Say" on Top of the Pops.
• Oasis' first name was Rain.
• Noel used to be a roadie for The Inspiral Carpets.
• Liam got the name Oasis from an Inspiral Carpets poster in his
and Noel's room.
• Noel once auditioned to be lead singer for The Inspiral Carpets
but didn't get the job.
