Main Weather Observations (recorded duirng past 24 hours)
♦ The withdrawal line of southwest monsoon continues to pass through Gangtok, Malda, Kolkata, Balasore,
Bolangir, Chandrapur, Parbhani, Harnai, Lat. 17°N/long. 70°E, Lat. 17°N/long. 65°E and Lat. 17°N/long. 60°E.
♦ Scattered rainfall has occurred over Tamilnadu, isolated over Kerala and Andaman & Nicobar Islands between
0830 to 1730 hours IST of today. The chief amounts of rainfall (1 cm or more) recorded at 1730 hours IST of
today are: Karipur-11, Dharmapuri and Nancowry-4 each, Kozhikode and Valparai-3 each, Chennai, Cuddalore,
Salem, Narsapur, Maya Bandar and Car Nicobar-1 each.
♦ KALPANA–1 Cloud imagery at 1730 hours IST shows convective clouds over parts of south Bay of Bengal, Andaman Sea, southeast
Arabian Sea, south Andhra Pradesh, south Karnataka and Kerala. Low/meduim clouds are seen over parts of western Himalayan region,
west Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, northeastern states and rest south peninsula.

Synoptic Features based on 1730 hrs IST


♦ The upper air cyclonic circulation over westcentral Bay of Bengal and neighbourhood extending upto 2.1 km
above mean sea level persists.
♦ Northerly/northwesterly winds are prevailing over Indo-Gangetic plains.
♦ A feeble western disturbance to likely to affect Western Himalayan region from tomorrow.

Major Feature of Weather Forecast (upto 0830 hours of 30th October, 2010)
♦ Commencement of northeast monsoon rains is likely over Tamilnadu and adjoining peninsular India around 29th
October.
♦ Fairly widespread rain/thundershowers would occur over Tamilnadu, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Kerala and
Andaman & Nicobar Islands.

♦ Scattered rain/thundershowers would occur over Rayalaseema, south Karnataka and Lakshadweep.
