8 October 2010
As you are aware, the VTDI Student Council has commenced plans to implement the Natural
Beautification Labour Day Project to be held on October 18, 2010. Plans for the day’s activities
have almost been completed. The council met on the 5th October to finalize same. We have
come up with several volunteers who are willing to donate plants, serve on the planting team
or provide snacks. We are also considering the possibility of providing entertainment in the
form of music to keep a jovial mood in the environment, for the planters.
We have sent letters to the Science Research Council and the Jamaica Forestry Department to
request the best price for plants that could last for several years with minimum maintenance.
Some of the plants are primarily for beauty, while some are for fragrance. We are still awaiting
responses from these organizations.
We think that this project is an interesting Labour Day activity and are confident that everything
is working out nicely. We don't foresee any problems that would upset our plans .
Any addition to what we have in place or adjustments you see necessary, please feel free to contact me
at 365-4406 or the secretariat at 967- 7584.
