Emphasis: Prefix “over”

The prefix “over” means “above,

more than is necessary,
1. overcast: covered with clouds; dark; cloudy excessive, or higher.”
2. overlap: to rest on top of part of something

3. oversight: a mistake that is not made on purpose

4. overflow: to flow over or beyond

5. overpass: a bridge or road that crosses a river, another road, or a railroad

6. overseas: abroad

7. overwrite: to write too elaborately or in excess

8. overrule: to decide against by higher authority

9. overhaul: to check over carefully and make needed changes or repairs

10. oversimplify: to simplify to the point of causing misrepresentation or error

11. oversize: larger than usual or normal

12. overview: a general review or summary of a subject

13. overachiever: to perform better or achieve more than expected, especially by others

14. overanalyze: to examine carefully and in detail so as to identify causes, key factors,

possible results, etc.

15. overzealous: excessively enthusiastic

16. overbid: to bid more than the actual value or worth

17. overcharge: to make an unnecessary charge; charge too much for something

18. overreact: to show an exaggerated response to something

19. overconfident: too confident; arrogant

20. overrated: to rate or appraise too highly
