If plans reach fruition — far from a guarantee — a triangular connection of three rail lines
will ring the outskirts of Staten Island, linking Pleasant Plains on the south with the
St. George Ferry Terminal on the northeast and the Bayonne Bridge on the northwest,
with a possible connection to Bayonne.

Pleasant Plains The Staten Island Railway’s


origins date back to the
Tottenville mid-19th century, when
a group of farmers
and businessmen established
a route between Clifton
and Tottenville. Today, the
Railway carries about 16,000
passengers every weekday.
