She ministered to the poor, sick, orphaned, and dying, while guiding the
Missionaries of Charity's expansion. She was always a strong supporter of the poor
and the helpless. She had decided that she will be surrendering her entire life to
the service of humanity. She established an organization which would feed the
hungry and poor, the naked, homeless, blind, crippled and abandoned. She made no
disparity in taking care of people and everyone who had nowhere else to go would
come to the organization. She also started the home for the dying at Kalighat in
Kolkota (the present name of Calcutta) and also in the same period she opened
another home called Nirmala Shishu Bhavan for orphans and homeless children. She
was the first woman in India to open a home for the lepers in Shanti Nagar in 1955.
She did not restrain from touching them and made people understand that leprosy
did not spread by touching. She worked towards expanding it and thousands of
nuns enrolled with her organization to service the poor, needy and destitute.

?hey are my life. ?hey are taking care of me for about 13 years until now. My
parents have clean heart. ?hey take care of us and can do anything just to provide
our daily needs. ?hey also keep the harmony in our family and let us live happy. My
mother and my father are merciful. Every time we do vices, they are always
forgiving us. I love them and I believe that they love me too.

Based on my cousins and my brothers and sister·s observations, I am merciful because

when my siblings teases me and when they apologize, I always forgive them with no
hesitations and anger and I also believe that victory isn·t owned by cheating but by
fighting fair and square. Also, when my brothers and cousins have a little
misunderstanding, I always came to them and make things alright and peacefulc
