MARBLE
Where is Marble Found?

Marble is mostly found in the United States


and some Mediterranean countries in Europe.

Belgium, France, Great Britain, Greece, India,


Italy, and Spain.
Commercial Value
 Marble has a high commercial value, due to it being good for
building sculptures, famous buildings or structures and
monuments.
 It has long been valued for its beauty, and resistance to fire
and erosion.
 Many famous artists such as Michaelangelo used it to carve
beautiful and famous sculptures.
Mining Process

 Even though marble is a very dense rock, it must be mined


carefully or it will shatter. Things like explosives will cause it to
shatter.

 Blocks of marble are mined with channeling machines, which


cut grooves and holes in the rock, so that the marble will not
shatter.
What is it used for?
 It is mainly used for large structures, or buildings.
 It can be used to decorate homes with items like vases or
countertops. It also can be used for more important things, like
for columns and posts
 Also for sculptures.
