Homepage Production:
Layout and Navigation

Learning Objectives
1. To be able to create a homepage
layout with hyperlinks.
Starter
• Revisit your paper layout designs.
• Now that you have begun to produce
your homepage what will you change
about the layout?
• Make a list of the changes on the reverse
of your paper design and give a brief
reason for each change.
Layout and Navigation Tips
1. At every stage you will need to consider your target audience and the
purpose of your homepage (to promote the recoding artist and your
music video).
2. You will need to create all hyperlinks so that it is a real functioning
homepage.
3. You need to add content markers where you do not have the actual
content yet, for example a marker for your music video is needed. I
suggest these are the same media as your content, so use a random
video to mark the music video and a text box to mark a section of text
to be added.
4. Remember that you need to consider the iconography of your recording
artist in all of your design choices (colour/font and images).
5. You should ask your peers to check your layout and hyperlinks
periodically, sometimes it is easy to assume you have made navigating
your homepage easy for your audience but it may not be the case.
