7th Grade Science is an introduction to the diversity and complexity of the Earth and the life within it while
developing scientific inquiry skills. We will explore how geologic time, history and changing of life forms are
indicated by fossils and major geologic events. We will study the composition and structure of the human
body, transmission of genes to offspring and how all organisms obtain energy for survival.

Expectations
 All EMS school rules and expectations (PRIDE) will be enforced.
 Please remember to think of your SAFETY as well as others at all times by following directions and
using proper lab techniques. (You will be expected to sign a safety contract before our first lab!)
 Bring to class EVERYDAY: 2 or more pencils, science notebook, planner, and reading material.

Consequences
 Students who behave appropriately will earn verbal praise and PBS rewards.
 Students who behave inappropriately will earn: 1.) Re-teaching and warning 2.) Communication with
parent/guardian 3.) Detention or restorative justice 4.) Referral to administration for appropriate
action.

Grading Procedures
 Your “Content” grade will be determined by meeting proficiency on the science content standards.
 Understanding that work ethic, study habits, and citizenship are important, you will earn a separate
“Academic Behavior” grade that reflects these components.
 Please refer to the rubrics provided for both the content and academic behavior grades.
 “Parent Bridge” will be updated at the end of each week.

Absences
 You are responsible to find out what you missed by referring to the board, sample notebook, and/or
asking a classmate or me, then completing the work in the time frame given.

Extra Help
 I am available before school (7:00am), lunch and after school until 3:10pm on most days. Please let
me know if you are planning to come for extra help.
