NOTE ON 250kVA TRANSFORMER COMPACT

SUBSTATION
TECHNOPARK PHASE III, TRIVANDRUM

160kVA 11/0.433 kV transformer is temporarily connected to

the substation using 150 sqmm cable for construction purpose.
Once the construction is over, this transformer can be
connected for other loads such as pumping loads, landscape
lighting etc. Since this transformer is not sufficient to meet the
present construction loads, it was proposed to install another
250 kVA 11/0.433 kV transformer. This was proposed to be
connected to the same feeder using a Ring Main Unit. The
existing transformer will be connected to the RMU and the new
transformer will be connected to the RMU using an 800 m long
150 sqmm cable and an LBS. The total cost of the scheme is
42 lakh rupees.

If a new feeder from the substation is to be used, only

alternative is to use 3 x 1c x 500 sqmm XLPE Al Cable. The
total cost of the scheme is worked out at 75 lakh rupees. It

may please be noted that by using 150 sqmm cable in the

place of 500 sqmm cable, 40% capacity of the feeder is lost.
