Summary # 1

Base on David Murphy’s article in PC World

Magazine pages 27-32, each of core i series
processors have different specs and specialties
which means that core i7 will not be always be on
top and that core i3 is always on bottom and same

I way with core i5 [1]. In his article, he compared 2

brand of processor manufacturer, AMD and Intel. He
lined up 8 of the best of the best computer

P#1 processors and 4 coming from each company. Intel

won and dominated the ranking; it got the 1 st and 2nd
slot.

According to Murphy “Intel core i7-980x is

the first desktop-grade CPU with six physical cores,
but hyperthreading yields 12 virtualized ones...”
which makes i7 as the no. 1 in the list. As what
people tend to think, the arrangement is as follows,
i7 on top, i5 in mid range and i3 on the bottom, but
base on Murphy’s article and review, it’s not. Its i7-

B i3-i5. The i3-540 tops the performance of i5-750

which is practically a higher class due to the higher
P#3 clock speed and cheaper price of it [2]. I7’s price
maybe quite exaggerating but its performance is still
overwhelming. It scores 147 on world bench 6 test.
Due to its automatic overclocking to 3.6ghz and
using the QPI (Quickpath interconnect architecture)
which makes faster bandwidths for routing
communications between the motherboards or
C simply an immeasurable performance [3].

Above all, we can conclude that Intel

P#5 processors are the best and offer the best
performance among all processors. Intel may have
put a big price for each processor but its still justified
by its performance. Generally, each core i series
differs in their technical specs, clock speeds, and
structures but their primary functions were still not
clear and weren’t been stated.
