4 Elements of Biblical Counseling (foundational elements)

1.) Concepts, Who is God, does he care, worldview.
a.) Motivational Development, think not only of behavior but we need to address the
motivations of the heart.
2.) Methods, in light of your concept how do you then counsel. Theory and therapy always go
together.
3.) Institutions, who are you addressing in your counseling.
4.) Apologetics, every system has a way that it addresses other systems.

In 1988 Paulison writes “Crucial Issues in Contemporary Biblical Counseling” Today’s movement was a
result of this work.
