The Art of Shoe Shining

1) Gather all of your tools
I get all of my supplies from http://www.uspatriotstore.com

• 2 shoes horn
• Lincoln wax (black and neutral)
• Seal-A-Shine bottle
• Applicator (2 sponges and cotton ball). One sponge is for the black wax, the other is for neutral. Tips the
use of the sponge prevent mark leaving by cotton and other the applicator when melting the wax. The
cotton is for buffing
• Heat gun. Can be found at Wal-mart or a hardware store in the paint section. It’s like a hotter version of
the hair dryer. Even though this item is not necessary, it’s reduce the time by half. Also, if you need to
“strip” the boot of kiwi or wax, is very fast. Very convenient.
• Brush. Need 2 when striping. One to brush the melted shoe polish, the other is for dirt.
• Water
1. Clean and brush all the
dirt away from the boots
2. Make sure the boots
have no water spots.
3. Then use the heat gun
and melt the shoes
polish. This will form a
good layer to start
working on the boots.
4. Use the applicator to apply
the black-wax on the boot.
Apply one boot, then go to
another boot.
Tips: Avoid big chunks of wax.
Try to apply them somewhat
evenly.
5. Use the heat gun and melt
the toes and the heal. As for
the sides, use a brush to buff
it. Do this with the first boot,
then the second.
6. Repeat the process if more
layered are needed.
Normally on a boots that
have a good layer, apply 2-3
times. On a brand new
boots, about 6-7 times.
7. Use the Neutral-
Wax and apply the
same rules as the
Black-Wax.
8. Now use the
cotton ball and
slightly wet it, so
only at one end of
the ball is wet. If
the whole cotton
ball is wet, throw it
away. Because
you need to apply
it and let it dry.
Work on one boot,
then the other. At
this point, apply
only at the toe and
heal.
9. Once somewhat
dry, dip your finger
into the water, and
lightly dap some
water on the wax.
Basically you need
a little bit of water
to buff the boot
with the cotton ball.
The boot will look
cloudy at first. But
once it is dry, you
apply a little bit of
water and buff it in
a circular motion
with the cotton ball
10. Once it look like this 
Then uses the
Seal-A-Shine
11. Drop 1-2 drops of that
liquid onto a new cotton
ball and apply that to the
whole boot.
The art take times to master. And once you master it, shows off your boots and pass on
the information. Thanks for reading this. Now stop asking me where I got my stuff,
how I do it, and that I’m not using Mopp&Glow or Leather Luster. 
