ENHANCED K+12
BASIC EDUCATION
PROGRAM
Dr. Yolanda S. Quijano
Undersecretary, Programs and Projects
October 19, 2010
WHERE ARE WE
NOW?
Insufficient mastery of basic competencies
due to congested curriculum
High school graduates (<18 years lack
basic competencies and maturity)
Other countries view the 10 – year
education cycle as insufficient
The Philippines is the only remaining
country in Asia with a 10 – years basic
education program
WHY ADD TWO
YEARS?
Decongest and enhance the
basic education curriculum
Better quality education
for all
Minus 2 instead of plus 2
K+
