NOVEMBER 8, 2021

Zamboanga del Sur National High School SPA Campus conducted its first virtual career
guidance celebration in the School year 2021-2022 on November 4-5, 2021 via google meet. It was
participated by the students of grade 9 and grade 10. The Guidance Advocate of SPA Campus, Mrs.
Rasnia Candatu Maulana facilitated the said program. She thoroughly cascaded the efficiency and
effectiveness of the program the will complement the Department’s goal to provide relevant
information on the procedures and activities related to career guidance. This activity aims to orient the
students the dynamic changes in the labor market and trends shaping their future jobs.
The program was divided into 4 batches since the platform utilized for the sessions cannot
accommodate more than 100 participants. Google meet links were prepared by Sir Neil Roy Masangcay
and Sir Alford dela Cruz, the school ICT coordinators. Grade 9 first batch was scheduled on November 4,
2021 from 8:00 to 10:00 in the morning. The second batch for Grade 9 had their session from 10:00 to
12:00 noon time. Likewise, the same procedure was followed by the Grade 10 participants on November
5, 2021.
The program started with a prayer using an audio-visual presentation and was followed by the
National Anthem. After which, our beloved school principal, Ma’am Alna A. Lasala gave her opening
remarks. After the preliminaries concluded, the statement of purpose then proceeded covering the
length of the program. The statement of purpose was discussed by Mrs. Rasnia Candatu Maulana. She
first talked about the DepEd memo concerning the implementation of the career guidance program. She
highlighted on the importance of carrying out the program, the process, persons involved in the career
guidance activity and career guidance learning materials, among others. Once the students have grasped
the importance of implementing the program, a 30-minute video presentation was then shown to the
students. The video was entitled “Labor Market Information Presentation regarding DepEd National
Orientation on Career Guidance Program.” It focused on providing knowledge and understanding of how
the labor market functions. Moreover, it can help learners in their career decision making by thinking
about what the future might be. Students’ interest to choosing their future careers were further
motivated by another video presentation entitled, “Senior High School Tracks Orientation Video for
Parents and Grade 10 Students.” The video aimed to provide the learners with a clearer view of which
track they will pursue once they reach Senior high school.
After all the discussions and presentations were completed, an open forum was given to
students so they can raise their issues, comments and concerns regarding the topics in the program.
Learners were very participative during the program and wore their future career attires. The Head
Teacher of the SPA Campus, Ma’am Aileen L. Luab gave her closing remarks. The program ended
successfully with the closing prayer though an audio-visual presentation.
The success of the program was realized due to the active participation of the class advisers and
effective facilitation of the Guidance Advocate. It was also fully supported by the school principal,
Ma’am Alna A.Lasala together with the head teachers.
