Answer the following:
1. Nowadays, how do people portray themselves online? Cite an example and explain.
Social media has given people the ability to instantly connect with others and share their
lives through photos, videos and status updates. People themselves describe these platforms
as a key tool for connecting and maintaining relationships, being creative, and learning more
about the world. But they also must contend with more negative aspects of social media use,
such as drama and bullying or feeling pressure to present them in a certain way.
An example was a person post about a range of topics on social media, with posts about
their accomplishments or family playing an especially prominent role.
2. Explain clearly the “Disinhibition Effect”. Cite an example.
The online Disinhibition effect describes the loosening of social restrictions and inhibitions
that are normally present in face-to-face interactions that take place in interactions on the
Internet. For example, a group of students might bully a classmate online and then feel
emboldened to bully him or her in person.
