 The 3 components of NSTP are; ROTC, CWTS and LTS. ROTS or
the Reserve Officers Training Corps refers to the program

students in order to motivate, train, organize and mobilize them for
national defense preparedness. On the other hand, CWTS or the
Civic Welfare Training service refers to the program component or
activities contributory to the general welfare and the betterment of
life for the members of the community or the enhancement of its
facilities, especially those devoted to improving health, education,
environment, entrepreneurship, safety, recreation, and moral of the
citizenry and other social welfare services. Lastly the LTS or

 Bill of Rights is important because it serve as the shield or
protection of the rights of every individual. The right to life, liberty

 A Constitution is defined as a written instrument by which the
fundamental powers of the government are established, limited,
and defined and by which these powers are distributed among the

for the benefit of the people.

1. Describe the Geographic Profile of the Philippines. (20 points)


 The Philippines is an archipelago that consists of 7,641 islands
with a total land area of 301, 780 square kilometres (116, 518 sq.
mi). The largest of these islands is Luzon at about 105, 000 square
kilometres (40, 541 sq. mi). It has no land boundaries and it
consists of volcanic islands, including active volcanoes, with
mostly mountainous interiors. The longest river in the Philippines
is the Cagayan (Rio Grande de Cagayan) on Luzon, about 350
kilometres in length.
2. Identify the Philippine Disasters. (10 points)
 It is stated that Philippines is considered one of the most disaster-
prone countries in the world. The common disasters that occurred
in the Philippines are; Earthquakes, Volcanic Eruptions, Tropical
Cyclones and Flooding.
3. Explain Philippine Disaster Reduction and Management Act (RA 10121)
(20 points)
 This provides a comprehensive, all-hazard, multi-sectoral, inter-
agency, and community-based approach to disaster risk
management through the formulated of the National Disaster Risk
Management Framework. This also mandates the establishment of
a Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (DRRMO) in every
province, city, municipality, and a Barangay Disaster Risk
Reduction Management Committee (BDRRMC) in every
barangay.

 According to Bush (2014), youth can play an important role in
disaster preparedness and recovery. They can also assist
communities in mapping their risk and protective factors or may
hold leadership positions within programs. Some additional roles

 The two categories of disaster are Natural Disaster and Man-
Made Disaster. Natural disasters refer to those disasters that
are triggered by natural phenomena while Man-Made

It can be divided into three categories; the armed conflict,
technological disasters and disasters that are caused by
natural hazards but that occur in human settlements.

 As a student, I can actively participate in enhancing
community preparedness during disasters and calamities by
being ready all the time since any disaster can occur anytime
without any warning. Also, by being aware of the essential
things that I have to do before, during and after the calamity

II. Enumerate 6 things to do after a flood

1. Listen to news reports for you to be able to know if the water


supply in the community is safe to drink.
2. Moving water should be avoided.
3. Stay away from downed power lines, and report to the power
company.
4. If the building is surrounded by floodwaters, move and stay out
immediately.
5. Return home only when authorities declare safe.
6. Everything that got wet should be cleaned and disinfected. Mud
left from floodwater can contain sewage and chemicals.
1.1. Before a landslide
 The outside walls, walks or stairs begin pulling away from
the building.
 There is occurrence of changes in your landscape such as
patterns of storm-weather drainage on slopes (especially the
places where runoff water converges) land movement, small
slides, flows or progressively leaning trees.
 There are new cracks appearing in plaster, tile, brick or
foundations.
 There are unusual sounds such as cracking of the trees or
knocking of the boulders together, which indicate moving
debris.
 It is for the first time that the doors or windows stick or jam.
 Appearance of bulging ground at the base of a slope.
 Retaining walls, fences, utility poles or trees tilt or move.
 Widening cracks or slowly developing and appearing on the
ground or on paved areas such as streets or driveways.

possible debris flow which can be seen when driving
(embankments along roadsides are particularly susceptible to
landslides).
 As the landslide is getting nearer, there is noticeable faint
rumbling sound that increases in volume.
1.2. During landslide
 As quickly as possible, move away from the path of a landslide or
debris
 If it is not possible to escape, curl into a tight ball and protect your
head.
 Find out if there are associated dangers such as broken electrical
wiring, gas and sewage lines and damaged roadways and railways.
1.3. After landslide
 Stay away from the slide area to avoid additional hazards.
 Immediately check for injured and trapped persons in the slide area
without entering the premise. Give direct instructions to the
rescuers where the trapped persons are.
 Always listen to local radio and television stations to be update on
the attest emergency information.
 Special assistance should be extended to neighbors who need help-
elderly people, infants, and those with disabilities, etc.
 Always watch as floods may occur after a landslide or debris flow.
 Immediately report to appropriate authorities broken utility lines.
Further hazards and injury can be prevented.
 Damaged ground should immediately be replanted since erosion
caused by loss of ground cover can led to flash flooding.
 Professional advice should be sought from geotechnical expert for
landslide evaluation hazards or designing corrective techniques to
reduce landslides.
 Position the patient correctly by maintaining open airway.
 Artificial ventilation should be applied if casualty is not breathing.
 Immediately control bleeding.
 Dress wounds.
 Fractures and dislocations must be immobilized.
 The casualty must be placed in correct position and most comfortable position
consistent with the requirements of the treatment.
 The casualty should be relieved of anxiety and confidence should be promoted.
 The casualty should be relived of pain and discomfort.

sink, replace an old toilet bowl with a low-volume model
that uses less than half of the older types, washing machines
should be operated only when fully loaded or set the water
level for the size of your load, wait till your dishwasher is
fully loaded before you start washing, turn off the water
while you’re washing your face, brushing your teeth or
shaving and lastly replace your shower head with a low-flow
model.

 This is a change in the statistical distribution of weather

 The difference between mitigation and adaptation is that,
Climate change adaptation is a response to global warming
and climate change, that seeks to reduce the vulnerability of
social and biological systems to relatively sudden change
and thus offset the effects of global warming while Climate
Change mitigation consists of actions to limit the magnitude
or rate of long-term climate change, (Gallup International,
2011).
