Ward 1 Tamale Contest & Holiday Event

Free and open to the public. Live Rondalla Music! Event is outside,

Tamale Judging @ 4:30 p.m.—Eating at 5:30!


Come and enter your tamales in our contest.
We have three categories: beef, corn and
unique! Celebrity tasters include: Pablo Martinez of
Casa Vicente, Patricia Schwabe of Tooley’s
Cafe, and Ernesto Portillo from La Estrella de Tucson.
Prizes will be given in each category.

Contest Rules
Call or email Ward 1, 791-4040 or ward1@tucsonaz.gov
by December 9 with your name and type of tamales. Bring
two dozen tamales between 4-4:20 p.m. for each category you enter.
You will be assigned a number to ensure blind judging.
One dozen will be judged, the other dozen will be shared with everyone.
Please keep tamales warm for judging.

On display we’ll feature the work
of local artist/mom Tanya Alvarez,
festive sounds from local musicians,
and we’ll sample treats from our
holiday buffet! Please bring food or drink to share.

Luciana will be there to try out the world famous tamales.
