goose!

Geese on UNCC Campus
• Canadian geese obviously
thrive here at UNCC. On
many occasions, I have seen
cars slam on their brakes to
allow geese to cross the
road. This is dangerous and
should not have to happen
on a daily basis where we
students live. We must do
something to rid these
geese of our backyard!
The geese are here!!!
• Although there is a facebook group for about
everything these days, you know geese are a
problem when “Students against UNCC geese” is a
group. I see them everyday, and in vast amounts.
They stroll just about everywhere on campus and
love getting in your way. A lot of times I hear people
talking about their encounters with these pests.
There are many places where they may nest and be
able to reproduce, keeping the population of geese
on campus way too high.
Why are they a problem?
• The geese here think they own the land. To them, it is their
toilet, breeding grounds, and living space.
• Take a look at the ground and see how many splotches of
green you can count. There is a good many and they are
indeed, poop. Students here are tired of stepping in or
dodging this goose feces.
• Car accidents occur at an extremely rapid rate daily. We do
not need these geese to cause that number to increase. They
tend to strut out into the road and cause cars to brake
abruptly, which can lead to accidents.
• These geese are also aggressive!!!!->
Evidence of the matter
• Here is a video showing the aggressiveness of these creatures
and how they can bother a walking passerby on campus

• There is also a facebook group where students can discuss
this goose problem

Possible solutions
• There are many maintenance workers around UNCC
campus. I feel that if a group had the job of going
around and trying to rid the geese of campus, it
could be effective.
• The AAAC of South Charlotte is also another
solution(A All Animal Control of South Charlotte)-
They can work specifically with geese.
• Goose Busters is another environmentally-friendly
and humane way to solve the problem.
Should we have maintenance step up?

• There are many tasks already on the daily plate for

the maintenance team here at UNCC and I feel that it
would be a little overboard to have them rid the
geese of campus
• The cost to pay these additional workers would come
out of UNCC’s wallet, which would affect other
money-spending projects which will benefit students
more
• Overall, not a very effective solution
AAAC of South Charlotte
• Complete and gentle geese removal or your
money back!!!!
• Even have wildlife biologists to help with the
problem
• Absolutely environmentally friendly and
efficient
• Overall, seems to be more effective than
hiring maintenance workers
Goose Busters!!
• Full time goose control with the use of border collies
• Perfect way to remove the geese by fear of the border
collie(resembles fox or wolf, etc)
• No harm done to geese, completely humane and effective
• Helps save money used to clean up walkways and money
spent on workers to rid of geese
• It is PETA approved and the most natural way to rid your
environment of these pests
• Proven to work based on the collie’s “predator” stance and
herding instinct
Let’s solve this problem!!!!
• I believe the most effective method is the goose busters. The
use of border collies is proven to work and is efficient and
safe.
• Now that we have a solution, we shall contact UNCC
maintenance and propose the plan.
• Not only is it not safe for the geese to live on residential,
commercial, or corporate property, its not safe for us
students for them to live in our backyard!
• If we work together, a solution can be set in place and help
rid our environment of these pests!!!!!
